Petrobras named best managed company in Latin America

Petrobras was the winner, for the second year in a row, of the Best-Managed Companies in Latin America ranking, published by London-based Euromoney magazine. The Company was also recognized as the best in the Most Useful and Informative Website and Best Managed Company in the Oil and Gas Sector categories. Euromoney magazine has covered the international capital markets for over 40 years and is among the major publications in the industry.

Published in the March 2010 issue of the magazine, the annual ranking of the Best-Managed Companies in Latin America is one of the most distinguished awards given by the publication to companies on the continent. The poll rewards the companies with the most convincing and coherent business strategies by region, country and industry, as well as highlighting those which demonstrate sound corporate governance practices.

To carry the study out, Euromoney surveyed market analysts at major banks, consultancy firms and research institutes focusing on Latin America, taking into account their market strength, profitability, growth potential, quality of management and earnings. According to the publication, the global and regional financial crises have provided Latin America’s corporate executives with stark evidence of the benefits of good corporate governance.
