Por que Rússia deve crescer mais do que todos os países desenvolvidos, apesar de guerra e sanções, segundo o FMI
18 de abril de 2024Brazil’s Finance Minister Guido Mantega said Thursday that the 0.2-percent contraction in the country’s GDP in 2009 was in fact a good result given the effects of the international financial crisis.
Compared to several other countries that registered much sharper falls last year, Brazil had an acceptable performance, said the minister.
He believed that his country has bottomed out and is growing with a good pace in the beginning of 2010. Brazil’s GDP may grow up to 5.7 percent this year, he added.
Mantega said Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is satisfied with the 2009 figures, announced earlier in the day, and is now more interested in the country’s economic performance in 2010.
The Brazilian industry was severely affected by the global crisis in late 2008 and early 2009, but managed to recover and registered an expansion of 4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009.
President of the Brazilian Central Bank Henrique Meirelles stated that Brazil entered a vigorous process of expansion after a brief recession.
