President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is open to develop all-out economic ties with the Latin American nations and Cuba, in particular.
President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
The President said that Iran and Cuba should make use of existing potentials to broaden mutual ties and economic cooperation.
Referring to years of struggles between the Cubans and the global capitalism, he said the current global developments prove that the dreams of Iranian and Cuban nations are being materialized.
Grounds for expansion of relations between Tehran and Havana are well-prepared, said President Ahmadinejad adding that Iran and Cuba, the two members of the Non-Aligned Movement, should stand by each other as the future belongs to independent and justice-seeking nations.
Coup d’Etat is the only instrument of the global hegemony in masterminding plots in Latin America, which must be foiled by wise and active presence of people in their countries’ political developments, he said.
The Cuban foreign minister, for his part, described the Islamic Republic of Iran as a powerful country in global developments and said Havana fully backs Iran at the international organizations and conventions.
The Cuban foreign minister also extended the warm greetings of Cuban Leader Fidel Castro to Iranian president and expressed the hope to witness more cooperation between Iran and Cuba at international level.
