18 de abril de 2024Former Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has urged companies in his country to consider business opportunities in Portugal.
A credit crunch, a recession and tax hikes are hurting companies in Portugal, which needed a euro78 billion ($110 billion) bailout earlier this year to spare it from bankruptcy. Brazil’s economy, meanwhile, is prospering.
The Portuguese government hopes to raise some euro5 billion from privatizations in coming years and is looking for investors.
Silva said late Thursday that flag carrier TAP Air Portugal and a naval shipyard in northern Portugal could be of interest to Brazilian companies.
He met with Portugal’s prime minister and president during a private visit to Portugal.
