18 de abril de 2024The first Brazilian National Conference on Communications (Confecom) opened here Monday to define guidelines for communication policies in the coming years.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva proposed and inaugurated the Confecom under the theme of “Communication: a means for building rights and citizenship in the digital era.”
The four-day conference will be devoted to three thematic topics: content production, distribution facilities and citizenship, rights and duties.
About 2,800 people, including professionals, experts and observers, will attend the conference.
A conference on communication has been the desire of many civil society groups in the country, said a statement released before the conference by ARTICLE 19, an independent international organization to promote and protect the right to freedom of expression.
The conference will become an important step towards building amore democratic framework for communication in Brazil, the statement said.
