Automobile production in Brazil fell 4.9 percent and sales dropped 5.5 percent in April from March, the national automakers’ association said on Friday.
Automakers in Brazil produced 280,128 new cars and trucks last month, while sales totaled 289,189 vehicles, according to data released by industry group Anfavea. Auto output had slipped 0.4 percent and sales had risen 11.7 percent in March.
Brazil is a key market for the world’s biggest automakers, including Italy’s Fiat SpA (FIA.MI), Germany’s Volkswagen AG (VOWG.DE) and U.S.-based General Motors Co (GM.N) and Ford Motor Co (F.N).
